Nana the River Rat

My last firmly cemented memory of Anita is river rafting down the Cour d' Alene this summer. Those of you that know me well, know that I a huge river rat...Anita, not so much. Rafting for me is an easy pleasure, for Anita it presented a lot of difficulties. Her balance made just getting out to the raft and aboard a challenge. She made a huge effort to meet me where I shine, and I am so greatful. Anita is no stranger to the water and swims like a fish. Once we got going, she was at ease and loving every minute of the ride. It was a beautiful day. The scenery spectacular, and even some wildlife came to visit. I know not everyone thinks this way, but in my view rafting is one of the best gifts that I can give. It cost Anita a lot to receive that gift. I like to think that just the ride down the river was worth the physical costs, but I think that she knew how important it was for me to put her on my raft. And, I am so thankful for that honor and that memory. I have seen her since, but everytime I think back, I remember a beautiful woman, face turned toward the sun, drinking in the beauty around her. She may not be on a raft in heaven, but she is the same...A beautiful woman, face turned toward the Son, drinking in the beauty that surrounds her. I am grateful to Anita for so many things. Number one on my list the beautiful daughter she raised, Cindy. Her other kids are pretty great too. She is loved and missed. See you soon Anita, David Holmes
